About Psychologically Safe Workplaces

In today's dynamic workplaces, ensuring both psychosocial and physical safety is crucial for employee well-being and productivity. The Psychologically Safe Workplaces program, led by registered psychologist Kath Polglase, provides guidance on understanding and managing psychosocial hazards; and fostering safe and supportive environments.

This introductory program equips leaders, HR professionals, and team members with the tools to build psychological safety, navigate crises, and lead remote teams with empathy. It combines theoretical knowledge, practical strategies, and real-world examples to help participants drive positive change and cultivate a culture of well-being and support.

The program consists of four modules:

Module 1: Understanding Psychosocial Hazards (30 minutes)

Identify and manage hazards like job demands and interpersonal conflicts, and understand how psychosocial hazards impact health and wellbeing, and gain insight into the legal obligations of workplaces and the benefits of improved psychological safety to individuals and teams.

Module 2: Psychological Safety for Leaders (25 minutes)

Understand how to create environments where team members can safely express thoughts and concerns, foster open dialogue and effective communication, and how to get started on building a psychologically safe team culture.

Module 3: Stress and Limbic Risk (35 minutes)

Recognise signs of high stress, its effect on the brain, body, and performance, and review strategies to effectively manage high stress.

Module 4: Strategies for Building a Psychologically Safe Workplace (35 minutes)

Master practical strategies for building psychological safety in teams through communication that builds trust, cultivating a culture of feedback, reinforcing positive behaviours, and demonstrating care.
